Different Types of Lexmark Toner
Whenever you are trying to decide what type of Lexmark toner to purchase, it is always a good idea to compare your options. In most instances, your options are limited to three main types, two of which are more affordable. You can purchase the OEM brand, a compatible toner cartridge, or a remanufactured toner cartridge. The main differences between each type will usually come down to price.
An OEM brand cartridge is made by the manufacturer of your printer. These cartridges are made specifically for each printer model. The manufacturer will usually have a regular cartridge and a high output toner cartridge. The prices will vary on both, but the high output cartridge will cost significantly more than the regular toner cartridge.
A compatible toner cartridge is a cartridge that is made by a third party manufacturer in order to work with your printer model. This is not the same manufacturer of your printer, so the cartridges will be less expensive. The quality has proven to be the same when compared to the brand name toner cartridge. The compatible cartridge does not go through as many quality assurance tests, but some suppliers will offer a warranty on the product.
A remanufactured cartridge has been reconstructed using new and old toner cartridge parts. It is in essence, a recycled toner cartridge. Not all of the parts are used, so the cartridge will have a decent life span. These cartridges are refilled with new toner to the maximum capacity. This allows for the purchasers to get the most out of their toner cartridge. These remanufactured cartridges are available for at least half the price of the standard OEM cartridges. The output is comparable to the high output toner cartridges, so when you consider the pager per cartridge, it is an amazing bargain purchase.
